|Summary of the proposed Action :
||(a) The need, or the constraint to alleviate
The Matsekope Women Gari Project Society, realizes that there are about 4 secondary and technical schools in the Dangbe East district. On the average each school purchases about 40 maxi bags of gari each school term to feed the students. Unfortunately, these institutions purchase their gari outside the district, some going as far as Accra to buy gari.
(b) The proposed solution to the identified need or constraint your achievement
The Matsekope Women Gari Project Society intends to undertake an advocacy action to establish a marketing link between the association and institutions in the District.
(c) The implementation plan to achieve the solution your Action
(d) The expected impact(s) of the advocacy Action (i.e. the effects of the result(s) achieved by your Action).
The Association will gather data on the demands of the various institutions, their sources of supply (of gari), prices at which they buy the products, the purchasing arrangements (credit facilities enjoyed) and payment systems. and develop a proposal to be presented to the Dangbe East Assembly to assist in addressing their problem. The association then intends to lobby the District Assembly, especially the District Chief Executive, to convene a meeting between the institutions, the Assembly and the Association where they will present a proposal detailing out the quality of their product and purchasing arrangements. The association hopes to lobby the institutions to buy ‘made in your district goods’ to help increase the income levels and generate employment. The success of this action, will prompt the association to ‘evade’ nearby districts.
Increased gari production with an assured market
Reduction in poverty
Improved standard of living
Improved advocacy capacity of the association.
