Summary of the proposed Action : (a) The need, or the constraint to alleviate
Ghana Progressive Hair Dressers Association who depends on quality hair products for their services face serious constraint in their operation due to in -flood of fake hair products in the Ghanaian Market. Among these fake products are hair products which are gradually collapsing the business of the hair dressing industry due to their harmful effect on end consumers.

(b) The proposed solution to the identified need or constraint your achievement
From the above analyzed situation there is the need to alert Ghana Standard Board (GSB) and Customs Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS) of the real situation on the ground concerning the importation of fake and other related products into the country .to help put an end to the situation,

(c) The implementation plan to achieve the solution your Action
For the next eight (8) months the Association with the help of Service Provider will:

  • hold meetings to plan to prepare proposals to Ghana Standard Board; CEPS, Environmental Protection Agency, and Food and Drugs Board to have a critical look at the importation of these fake products into the country and come out with pragmatic solutions to address the problem.
  • Organize workshops/seminars to sensitize members of the effect of fake hair products to customers and the hair dressing industry in general.
  • Create awareness of these fake products through radio talk shows to alert the general public.
  • (d)The expected impact(s) of the advocacy Action (i.e. the effects of the result(s) achieved by your Action).
    It is expected that the action will :

  • Bring industrial competitiveness in the hair products market as producing companies of hair products will realize the need to improve upon their products to meet customers demand.
  • Eradication of unscrupulous and self businessmen and women from the import trade.
  • See to the growth of the hair beauty business in Ghana
