Summary of the proposed Action : Need for Action:
Ashanti Region is a community where private enterprise flourishes because of its central strategic location in Ghana and the availability in relative terms of natural and human resources. But the strong presence of entrepreneurship is not matched by good business and management practices to allow for profitability, growth and survival of business.

Proposed Solution:

  • To strengthen the participation of sector associations in ASSI programmes
  • To study the business practices of SMEs of India through a business tour
  • To help operators to expand businesses through a business development strategy document to be prepared from the studies above
  • Implementation Plan:
    Over a period of 8 months, ASSI Executive Council will hold meetings and travel to carry out activities under the Action. We will use the expertise of the Service Provider and other Resource Persons. These will entail:

  • a study of the needs of sector associations and for their effective participation in ASSI programmes.
  • a study tour of business in India
  • the design of a training programme on business development themes, arising from survey and visit to India
  • leadership development for women in business to be on the front line of sector associations, as well as the ASSI Council
  • Expected Impact:
  • An ASSI in which all sector associations are active in all respects of ASSI networking role
  • Adoption of sustainable business and investment practices for profitability and growth
  • Front line participation of women in business management and advocacy
