Uncompetitive business situation of locally-made and imported footwear, where the prices of local footwear are higher.
Proposed Solution:Reduction of taxes on imported footwear raw materials input by Government
Purchase and use of locally made footwear by Ghanaians
Implementation Plan:Committee members will hold meetings to decide on organization of activities under the Action
The Service Provider will help members to study the existing taxes on imported footwear raw materials. Based on this study we will make a proposal including recommendations to the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Private Sector Development to consider reviewing the taxes
We will arrange to hold negotiations with these ministries senior officials
We will organize radio talk shows with the aim of soliciting public view of made-in-Ghana footwear, the feedback will help in our negotiations.
We will also hold meetings with footwear manufacturers at the district level in order pool resources together for effective operations. The threat of HIV/Aids to our lives as business people will form part of the meetings.
Over a one-year period
